The itmatters AI Leadership Briefing
AI insights built for decision-makers – not spectators.
Week in Review: 28 July – 1 August 2025
Theme: Trust at Scale
AI doesn’t fail when models break – it fails when trust breaks.
This week, we examined the real reason AI initiatives collapse: not technical failure, but a failure of alignment, communication, and public trust.
AI may be powered by data, but it’s governed by relationships with users, regulators, employees, and the public. When those relationships lack transparency and trust, even the most technically sophisticated systems unravel.
We believe trust isn’t an afterthought, it’s infrastructure. That’s why we explored how to embed trust into every layer of AI strategy: from design and deployment to regulation and resilience.
This Week’s Signals – Trust in Action
Monday: We told the story of a government AI transformation that failed not because of performance, but because it missed the trust equation. We asked: can AI succeed if people don’t believe in it?
Tuesday: We broke down why 80% of AI projects still fail — and it’s not the code. It’s the culture. We introduced the STRIKE Framework as a path to embed trust from day one.
Wednesday: We unpacked STRIKE as an AI governance framework built for real-world stress – showing how to align systems with values, resilience, and leadership.
Thursday: We introduced R3 AI – a new standard for trust, built on reliability, resilience, and responsibility. Not branding, but backbone.
Friday: We explored AI Blind Spots – the unseen risks that sabotage even high-performing systems. Because what you don’t see will break you.
Leadership Reflection: Trust is the New Infrastructure
This week revealed a hard truth: AI doesn’t collapse from lack of intelligence, it collapses from lack of integrity.
In every failed system we examined, the warning signs were there assumptions left unchecked, ethics bolted on too late, governance frameworks never fully operationalized.
That’s why we built STRIKE. That’s why we define R3 AI. And that’s why we’re mapping AI Blind Spots.
Because trust isn’t something you add. It’s something you build.
Why it matters for leaders:
Trust is what makes AI real to regulators, to employees, to society. If you’re not designing for trust, you’re not designing for scale.
This isn’t just an AI issue, it’s a leadership one.
Historical Leadership Quote
“The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity.”
— Dwight D. Eisenhower
